What are the characteristics of a perfect smile? Teeth that are brilliant and white? Gums that are pink and healthy? What about teeth alignment? At Serene Dentistry Ventura, Dr. Klara N. Efner and her team work with California patients who want to achieve beautiful smiles–and address misalignment, crowding, and crooked and gapped teeth that are impacting their self-confidence. But many avoid starting the narrative regarding orthodontic work for fear of needing traditional metal bracket-and-wire braces. Fortunately, there have been many revolutionary advances in the field of orthodontia, and today, patients can realign their smiles using clear aligners.
While brackets glued to the teeth and connected with wires are an effective way to guide the teeth in the dental arch into proper alignment, it is no longer the ONLY option! Dr. Klara N. Efner is pleased to offer an alternative known as clear aligners. This encompasses several brands of clear aligner therapies, including Invisalign, SureSmile, and Reveal. All these treatments utilize plastic trays that are clear and fit over the dental arch to reposition the teeth gradually. Patients have complete control of their treatment, using the trays as needed to shift natural teeth into proper alignment over several months–rarely years!
The idea behind these clear aligners is to gradually push the teeth into the desired position using tight plastic trays. Patients obtain a series of trays that are used in the proper order to move teeth as needed for proper alignment. Each tray is used for about two weeks and worn for at least 20 hours daily to ensure the teeth are ready for the next tray change. As patients progress through their trays, the teeth are properly aligned by the end of treatment as long as compliance occurs.
Invisalign, SureSmile, and Reveal are perfect for patients with mild to moderate misalignment of the teeth. Patients with more severe misalignment and malocclusion might still be referred to an orthodontist if it is determined that clear aligner therapy will not help them achieve their goals. Our team can evaluate you during your first appointment to decide if you need a referral or are a good fit for the aligner therapies available at our office.
Are you tired of a misaligned smile? Are you ready to tackle imperfections in your smile, such as crooked or spaced teeth? While traditional metal bracket-and-wire braces can address these issues, they are not as desirable as the alternative solutions, such as clear aligners available with our dental team at Serene Dentistry.
